An open letter to college bound women.....

Lyons Township Alumnae Panhellenic Association

Dear College Bound Women,

Congratulations on your high school graduation and decision to continue your education and personal growth in college.  The Lyons Township Alumnae Panhellenic Association looks forward to sharing with you the opportunity of membership in a sorority.  College sorority chapters function as an extended family unit, providing a “home away from home” environment that encourages personal growth.  During your college years, sororities emphasize and encourage scholarship, university involvement, leadership, philanthropic efforts, and lifelong friendships.

Each year, sororities increase their membership through a mutual selection process called Membership Recruitment.  During Recruitment, you will have an opportunity to become acquainted with all of the sororities on your campus and their members.  At the end, your preferences are matched to achieve mutual selection.

The Lyons Township Alumnae Panhellenic Association has representatives from many of the twenty-six (26) National Panhellenic Conference sororities.  The primary goal of the Lyons Township Alumnae Panhellenic Association is to provide local college bound women with information about sororities and the recruitment process and write recommendations to introduce our local women to the sororities on the campuses they will attend.

In order for our Lyons Township Alumnae Panhellenic Association members to write recommendations to sorority chapters for you, we need information from you.  Our questionnaire and your resume and pictures will be sent to the sororities represented on the college campus you will be attending to help them learn a little bit about you before recruitment begins.  In some cases, a recommendation allows a sorority to invite a potential member to their house for lunch or dinner before the start of Formal Recruitment.  All information will be kept confidential, and you are under no obligation to register or participate in recruitment by providing this information.

  • Remember, you still must register with your University or College Panhellenic.  Contact your university or check with their Panhellenic/Greek Life Office if you have not received any information from them.  They have deadlines too!

If you would like to complete the questionnaire or have any questions about sororities in general, contact our Panhellenic President via e-mail at ltpanhellenic@hotmail.com.
